Kane County Cougars - District 105 Foundation Benefit Game
Thanks to all who joined us at the Kane County Cougars baseball game to benefit the District 105 Foundation.  Below are some slides taken at the game.

Gurrie Student Success
Our Gurrie Middle School eighth grade students have completed the course scheduling process at Lyons Township High School for the 2013-2014 school year. 47% of our eighth grade students are scheduled for Honors/Accelerated courses in both Math and English which continues the recent trend of more District 105 students entering advanced freshman courses than in previous years. When we began tracking course enrollment data seven years ago, 30% of our students entered Honors/Accelerated Mathematics and English courses.

This trend reflects the significant improvement our eighth grade students have made on the Explore Test, an instrument Lyons Township High School uses for course placement and a precursor to the ACT. It also reflects strengthened partnerships among our students, parents, staff, and the Lyons Township High School staff throughout the scheduling process.
Summer Connect Program
We are pleased to offer The Summer CONNECT Learning Program again in 2013!  The program will last from June 10th – August 8th.  New to the programming this summer, families will be able to select from three different options based on what will work best for their family schedules.  The options are FREE to all interested students and are highlighted below:

1. Structured CONNECT Learning program – Families that prefer to have a Teacher Coach work with their child over the summer to support maintenance of skills in math and reading can select this option.  Upon selecting this option, a District 105 certified staff member will be paired up with your child to practice reading and mathematics over the summer.  The CONNECT Coach and your child will meet face-to-face a minimum of seven (7) times.  Occasional connections via e-mail, phone, or post will occur over the summer as well.

2. Flexible CONNECT Learning program – Families that prefer to parent/student-guide learning over the summer can select this option.  Upon selecting this option, families will receive a Common Core aligned workbook and additional support activities.  There will be NO Teacher Coach associated with this option.

3. Independent CONNECT Learning program – Families that prefer to parent/student-guide the learning over the summer can select this option.  Upon selecting this option, families will use their own resources along with the Summer Learning For All website.  There will be no workbook provided for this option.  Furthermore, there will be NO coach associated with this option.

Online enrollment is now closed for 2013 Summer CONNECT Learning Program.  If you are still interested in enrolling in the program, please contact Kathryn Heeke at the district office (708) 482-2700.
